With a change in personnel, Owens were left with an accounts department that they admit was ad hoc, messy and outdated.
As Steve Smethurst, Director at Owens, explains,
“We took the decision to get Cura in for two main reasons: firstly to help my sister, Gill (office manager) by setting up and training her in the modern day to day accounting software solutions and secondly to improve efficiencies and therefore free up time for more ‘added value’ tasks. I can honestly say that they (especially Jordan) have made life a whole lot easier!”
Jordan Ross, Management Accountant with Cura, said,
"Owens is a dynamic, fast moving business - but also a place where people care about each other. We provided a complete overhaul of the bookkeeping processes and implemented automation systems using bank feeds and document capturing software.
We then implemented a CIS module to ensure correct treatment of CIS and accurate reporting on job profitability. Once implemented we trained Gill to continue with these systems put in place. We have also analysed the cash position and are putting together a rolling cash flow forecast and credit control procedures to improve the cash planning of the business.”
Gill Butler, Office Manager, commented,
“I had never worked with Sage before and Jordan has been a massive help by being hands on and personally running through and explaining it all to me. We are definitely in a much better position - more efficient. Cura have made very good sense - in every way!”
